Comcast Speed Test (22 March 2008)

Everyone once in a while, I’ll get a sudden reminder of how far things have come. It doesn’t seem like that long ago that I was bugging my parents for the latest Intellivision game or pining for a 5.25″ disk drive to replace the cassette drive on my Commodore 64.But take a look at the little speed test graphic here. I am getting a whopping 27.5 mb/s of downstream speed on my cable modem and 1.5 mb/s upstream. The upstream matches a T1 line that costs me a fortune each month when IPI was ramping up. And the 27.5 mb/s down matches the OC-3 line that really cost me a fortune when IPI was at its peak.

I think my Internet service is costing me something like $33/mo. bundled with my Comcast cable TV. Now that’s progress!
