I should probably get a few things out of the way right here in my first blog entry. TwiceFunded doesn’t mean I’m pecking these posts from my private island, reclining in a scene that looks like a Corona commercial. It doesn’t mean I bought my Bugatti Veyron 16.4 with my first exit event, and my Pacific Coast real estate after my IPO.

What it means is that I have been a startup entrepreneur in the trenches for more than 15 years. I’ve had some successes for sure. After all, I am twice funded.

I’ve got a long history of innovation that’s made millions of dollars for my own companies and clients. And I’ve launched , managed or helped along the careers of some great online talent.

The inspiration for TwiceFunded.com comes from my belief that there isn’t a single magic formula for building the next Google, YouTube or Facebook. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet more than a few people who may well have a Midas touch, but I’ve also seen plenty of people who just plain got lucky with the right product or service at the right time. Good for them, as long as they don’t confuse being lucky with being smart.
